Tiny Fireworks

The ruby-throated hummingbirds are here! After spending the winter in Mexico and Central America, these remarkable birds, dubbed "tiny fireworks," by the poet Mary Oliver, have migrated northward and are beginning to spread pollen from plant to plant to support fertilization. The wildflowers that mark the summer season- daylilies, bee balm, lupine, phlox, milkweed- grow thanks to their efforts. Our pattern for wallpaper and fabric, Hummingbird, and our newest linocut print (of the same name) celebrate these tireless pollinators.

While hummingbirds are migratory, Hummingbird is available year-round. We love how designers have made this special pattern their own. Above, Hummingbird, in color Deep Blue, is beautifully at home in the hands of designer Maggie Rodgers. And below,  Hummingbird, in color Fog, sings in the interiors of designer Cinnie May.

Hummingbird is offered as wallpaper and fabric in color Fog, and as wallpaper in color Deep Blue. A Deep Blue fabric option is in the works: stay tuned! To bring Hummingbird wallpaper or fabric home to your nest, please contact us directly or reach out to one of our showroom partners.

For those of you who prefer the company of a single feathered friend as opposed to an entire flock, we’re pleased to present a new linocut print called- you guessed it- Hummingbird. Given the central role that hummingbirds play in the lives of blossoming plants, the print features flowers that gather around a hummingbird like planets orbiting the sun. Our Hummingbird print is available for purchase on our website

Come see Hummingbird, and the rest of our limited edition linocut prints, in person at RISD Craft. The show features fine art and design work by over 130 artists, all RISD students and alumni, and will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 11am-5pm, in Providence, Rhode Island. Hope to see you there!
